ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India will face off each other in the T20 World Cup opening match in Australia on October 23, with reports suggesting 60,000 tickets for the match have already been sold out.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in Australia in October-November this year.
There would be fireworks at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as age-old rivals India and Pakistan lock horns in their opening encounter, the ICC said on its website.
“It’s believed over 60,000 pre-sale tickets for the India v Pakistan group match at the MCG on October 23 have already been sold,” the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper reported.
The tickets went on sale at 6:00pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST) on Monday, today, and were finished within hours, according to the report.
Pakistan will twice take on India at the MCG, which is one of the biggest stadiums in the world with a capacity of over 100,000.
India and Pakistan have faced off each other six times in T20 World Cups, with India winning five of those matches.
