DHL Express names first Saudi country manager

DHL Express, an international express service provider, has announced the appointment of Abdul Aziz Busbate as the first Saudi national to be the country manager for DHL Express Saudi Arabia. The appointment comes as part of DHL Express Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment and
efforts to support the Saudization objectives of the Vision 2030 program.

As country manager, Busbate is responsible for the development of DHL’s business and service portfolio in the Kingdom. He is tasked with identifying and executing strategic opportunities for the company to grow and expand its operations in the Kingdom’s fast-growing logistics and transportation market. A DHL veteran with 21 years of experience within the company, Busbate is also at the helm of its commercial operations and customer relations in the country.

“I am truly honored and humbled to have been chosen for this strategic position in a promising market like Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom holds tremendous potential for growth and we at DHL are keen on capitalizing on new and emerging opportunities to further our capabilities and offerings in line with our long-term expansion strategy,” Busbate said.

“My immediate focus will be on combining my logistics industry experience and deep knowledge of the company with the unmatched strengths of our talented teams to achieve our business objectives while also contributing to the development of the Kingdom and its economy.”

He said that the new appointment underpins DHL’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s objectives focused on building a local talent pool and creating job opportunities for Saudis as envisaged in Vision 2030. “At DHL, we place significant emphasis on building local human resources and we have achieved remarkable milestones on this front in the past and my appointment as country manager represents a major leap forward,” he added.

Busbate brings a wealth of logistics expertise and experience to the new role. After joining DHL in 2000 as territory manager, he rose through the ranks holding progressive responsibilities in various sales and customer solutions roles. The previous positions during his career at the company include global customer solutions manager, national customer sales manager, eastern regional sales manager and national sales manager.

Most recently, Busbate was country manager for Bahrain, a position he held from May 2014 to September 2021. Under his leadership, the company achieved significant growth and shining milestones. Bahrain was awarded as the best country of the year and the most improved country for several years among other DHL markets, in addition to multiple international customer service awards. The Bahrain division also secured record shipments per day growth during his tenure as the country head.
