Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals has joined forces with British oil and gas firm BP to push forward with it's green strategy, a statement revealed.

The two parties signed a Strategic Framework Agreement — SFA — along with a Renewable Data Collection Agreement, both of which complement Oman’s goal of world class renewable energy and green hydrogen development by 2030.

Under the terms of the SFA, both parties are to collaborate in several areas such as renewables strategy, regulation, the establishment of a green hub, and the development of the domestic workforce.

In addition, BP promises to capture and evaluate solar and wind data from a 8,000 km2 area of land to aid the Omani government in pinpointing the most suitable locations in terms of resources for the establishment of renewable energy hubs.

These resources could potentially also be utilized in the development of green hydrogen that caters to local and global markets.
