RIYADH: The Saudi stock exchange was up for the second consecutive day in the previous session, despite nearing 5000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.
The Kingdom saw two deaths from COVID-19 and 4,778 new infections on Monday, statistics by the Saudi Health Ministry revealed.
TASI recorded gains amounting to 0.9 percent to close at 11,665 points, its highest value since November. The parallel market Nomu remained flat at 25,846 points.
All Gulf indexes recorded gains, except for Abu Dhabi’s ADI which fell 1 percent, and Bahrain’s BAX, edging down 0.2 percent.
Bourses of Dubai, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait all rose in the range of 0.1 to 0.5 percent.
Elsewhere in the Middle East, the Egyptian index EGX30 was up 0.4 percent.
In energy trading, Brent crude settled at $81.3 per barrel, while US WTI crude oil reached $78.8 per barrel as of 8:26 a.m. Saudi time.
