Bio: Emily Raffoul is a journalist at Al Arabiya English based in Dubai. Focusing on the intersection of religion and politics, Raffoul has a particular interest in religious minorities and interfaith efforts in the Middle East.
Raffoul obtained two masters degrees, the first in journalism from Georgetown, and the second in religion from Yale University. During her time at Yale, she launched the university’s first podcast dedicated to religion and politics.
The podcast is now in its fourth season with 20 episodes, and has an audience of over 20,000 listeners.
Her interest in religion stems from her time at the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue in Rome, Italy, where she studied Islam and Judaism, moderated interfaith panels, and organized interfaith events.
She furthered her interest while spending various summers in Jerusalem, researching relationships between the three major monotheistic religions in the Holy Land and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
