RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday authorized the energy minister to discuss an energy agreement with France, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During its weekly proceedings, the Cabinet also endorsed an agreement with the International Air Transport Association to establish its regional headquarters in the Kingdom.

The ministers also approved the Kingdom’s accession to the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to limit methane emissions by 30 percent compared with 2020 levels.

It is one of the most potent greenhouse gases and responsible for a third of current warming from human activities. More than 100 countries have signed up to the initiative, first proposed by the US and the EU in September.

The Cabinet also authorized the minister of communication and IT or his deputy to discuss and sign a memorandum of understanding with the French authorities to bolster cooperation in the field of digital innovation and emerging technologies.
