Who’s Who: Dr. Sami Jabir Al-Solamy, assistant deputy minister at the Saudi Ministry of Health

Dr. Sami Jabir Al-Solamy was appointed the assistant deputy minister for human resources development at the Ministry of Health in November.

He has been CEO of the Health Academy of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties since December 2018. His job responsibilities at the academy include building a health program that meets needs across the national healthcare system, designing and delivering top healthcare education programs, and liaising with the Ministry of Health to ensure that its vision for healthcare is met, using targeted educational strategies.

From 2018 to 2019, Al-Solamy served as the acting CEO for the Healthcare Leadership Academy at the commission.

Since 2019, Al-Solamy has been an adjunct associate professor of emergency medicine at the Alfaisal University’s college of medicine, where he engages in teaching, research and clinical services in the field of emergency medicine and critical care.

He worked for more than a year from 2018 as an associate professor of critical care and emergency medicine at the Riyadh-based King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, where he was the director of postgraduate medical education from 2017 to 2018.

From 2014 to 2019, he worked as head of the trauma and critical care unit at the emergency medicine department in King Abdulaziz Medical City, in Riyadh, where he and his team provided state-of-the-art emergency care.

He received a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the Abha King Khaled University. He also obtained a master’s in public health, specializing in bioethics, from King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.

Al-Solamy received an executive master’s in business administration from Prince Mohammad bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
