ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Syria signed an agreement on Monday to enhance mutual cooperation in the fields of education, culture, science and vocational training, reported the state-run APP news agency.
The agreement was signed between Pakistan’s education minister Shafqat Mahmood and his Syrian counterpart Dr. Darem Tabbaa in Islamabad.
“The two sides agreed on reciprocal visits of performers, artists, writers and teachers for participation in conferences, symposia and seminars,” the APP said while elaborating details of the bilateral deal. “Both sides also agreed on establishing direct contact of organizations working in the field of arts and literature.”

The report said the agreement requires the two countries to exchange information and expertise in the specified areas of cooperation.
They will also collaborate with each other while translating selected literature in their respective languages.
The Syrian education minister also met with President Arif Alvi later in the day.
The Pakistani president said his country “attached great importance to its relations with Syria and wants to further promote and strengthen bilateral cooperation with the brotherly country in all areas of mutual cooperation.”
Pakistan and Syria have also worked closely in the fields of defense and economic development.
Pakistan helped strengthen the industrial sector of the Arab country in recent decades, as its experts provided assistance for the development of Syria’s sugar, cement, fertilizer and paper production facilities.
