PM Khan invites king and crown prince of Bahrain to visit Pakistan
  • Prime minister extended invitation during meeting with parliamentary delegation from the kingdom 
  • The two sides agreed to further enhance mutual collaboration in the fields of trade and investment 

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday invited the king and crown prince of Bahrain to visit Pakistan during a meeting with a senior official of the Arab kingdom. 
Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain Fawzia Bint Abdullah Zainal is currently leading a parliamentary delegation to Pakistan on the invitation of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar. 
The delegation, which began its visit on Wednesday, has agreed to further strengthen mutual collaboration with Pakistan in the fields of trade and investment, said an official statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office. 
The speaker of the council of Bahrain also conveyed warm regards of her country’s leadership to the Pakistani prime minister. 
“Reciprocating the warm sentiments of the Bahraini leadership, the Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the King and the Crown Prince of Bahrain to visit Pakistan,” said the statement. “He expressed special gratitude to the leadership of Bahrain for the care afforded to the 120,000 strong Pakistani Diaspora, in particular during the testing times of the global pandemic.” 
The Pakistani prime minister also reaffirmed his country’s desire to forge closer ties with the kingdom. 
The Bahraini official maintained her visit to Pakistan was a reaffirmation of long and historic fraternal ties of the two countries while recalling continued and close cooperation, bilaterally as well as at multilateral fora, between the two sides. 
King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain previously visited Pakistan in 2014. 
The two sides also held bilateral political consultations in July 2016 at the foreign ministry in Islamabad to determine the strategic direction of their bilateral relationship.
