KARACHI: A top United Arab Emirates diplomat said his government would fully cooperate with Pakistan over investment projects during a meeting with a provincial minister of Sindh on Tuesday, said an official handout.

The Gulf state is home to 1.2 million Pakistanis who send the second largest remittance amount to their country after Saudi Arabia.

The UAE also helped stabilize the troubled economy of the South Asian nation by depositing $3 billion in Pakistan’s central bank to address its monetary policy issues in January 2019.

The UAE government’s assurance was conveyed by its Consul General Bakheet Al Remeithi to a Sindh minister Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday.

“His Excellency Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi assured His Excellency Syed Nasir Hussain Shah for full co-operation and facilitation by UAE Government for investment projects in Pakistan to further strengthen brotherly bonds between two Islamic countries,” the statement said.

The UAE diplomat also met a National Assembly member from Sindh Ali Nawaz Shah on Monday.
