Travel firms are expected to order 39,000 new aircraft over the next two decades, with 75 percent of those being smaller planes catering for fewer than 200 passengers, according to a leading Airbus executive.
Bob Lange, Airbus’s head of business analysis, made the comments in an interview with Alsharq, stating: “The sector is still in the stage of recovery, not expansion."
“The recovery we are witnessing recently is mainly driven by domestic and regional travel, that is economic aviation, which boosts the demand for smaller aircraft,” he explained. “As for international long-distance travel, it is not likely to fully recover before 2025.”
Lange added that he is not expecting large purchase orders during the Dubai Air Show, which is taking place from Nov. 14 to 18
