MAKKAH: The Makkah Chamber of Commerce will launch a series of activities, competitions and programs for entrepreneurs and emerging companies on the occasion of Global Entrepreneurship Week this week.
The Secretary-General of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Ismat Abdulkarim Maatouk, said these activities are part of the chamber’s 2022 strategy, reflecting its keenness to support entrepreneurship and emerging companies in the Kingdom.
He said the chamber’s plans, programs and initiatives are consistent with one of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 pillars that consider “small and medium enterprises to be one of the most important drivers of economic growth as they create jobs, support innovation and enhance exports.”
The Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award for Excellence in Social Work will run a workshop on Wednesday targeting women entrepreneurs, companies, charities, governmental and private entities and endowment institutions, to introduce the award categories and the mechanism for applying them.
The workshop will be led by the Secretary-General of the award, Dr. Fahd Al-Maghlouth, at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce’s headquarters. He will discuss the National Achievement Award (for entities), the Award for Excellence in Islamic Endowments (for entities), the Award for Excellence in Social Work (non-profit entities), the Award for Excellence for Social Work Pioneers (for individuals), and the Award for Social Responsibility (for-profit corporations).
The winners will receive certificates of appreciation and a cash prize of SR500,000 ($133,333).
The Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award will hold a celebration sponsored by the Honorary Chairman of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to which award winners, prominent figures and heads of government and private agencies active in the field of social work from inside and outside the Kingdom are invited.
