Saudi HR minister uplifts plans to nationalize health professions

RIYADH: The Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi has issued new plans to nationalize jobs in the healthcare sector, providing more than 8,500 jobs for citizens.
The move is part of the ministry’s efforts to provide a stimulating working environment for citizens and expand their participation in the labor market.
It will nationalize more professions related to medical labs, radiology, physical therapy and therapeutic nutrition in all medical facilities across the Kingdom. The targeted jobs will be nationalized by 60 percent.
The ministry will also nationalize activities related to medical equipment and devices, including sales, advertising and the introduction of these medical devices. Jobs in this sector will be nationalized by 40 percent in the first phase and 80 percent in the second.
Al-Rajhi’s plans will target engineering and technical professions related to medical devices at private sector facilities, which will be nationalized by 30 percent in the first phase and 50 percent in the second.
The ministry has also issued procedural manuals to explain the details of these decisions and the necessary mechanisms for their implementation to ensure the facilities’ commitment. The two decisions will enter into force on April 11, 2022.
The ministry will also provide a package of incentives to help facilities of the private sector in the process of employing Saudis.
