RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Culture sent 77 students to study abroad in England, Australia, and the US on Tuesday as they represent the fourth batch within its cultural scholarship program.
The students obtained prior admission to international institutes and universities such as Royal Holloway, Birkbeck, Goldsmiths, and the School of Oriental and African Studies, which are all affiliated with the University of London. Manchester School of Architecture and Queen Mary University of London also accepted Saudi students.
Indiana University Bloomington, Michigan State University, University of Pennsylvania, Culinary Institute of America, Pratt Institute in the US, and Australian National University were the schools in the US and Australia that participated in the exchange program.
Of the Saudi exchange students, 62 percent were female while 43 will study for a bachelor’s degree and the remaining 34 are targeting a master’s degree.
Their specializations include literature, languages and linguistics, fashion design, design, filmmaking, visual arts, archaeology, theatre, culinary arts, libraries, museums, architecture, and music.
They will study within the cultural scholarship program, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom. With the fourth batch of exchange students included, the culture ministry has issued scholarships to 359 Saudi students.
