Adhwan Al-Ahmari is a Saudi writer, journalist, political analyst, and media personality. He is the editor-in-chief of The Independent Arabia and head of digital and online services at Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper and channel. Accumulating over 16 years of experience in media, Al-Ahmari worked for various newspapers and news channels, including Al-Hayat, Orbit, and “Rotana Khaleejiah” channel.
Al-Ahmari obtained a bachelor’s degree in business management from King Saud University in Riyadh, and a master’s degree in digital media from New York City University.
Al-Ahmari was known for his breakthrough interview with former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. During the interview, Ahmadinejad repeatedly evaded answering a question by Al-Ahmari regarding the famous letter that he sent to the Saudi crown prince in which he presented ideas for an initiative to end the war in Yemen. He also launched the first issue of the newspaper The Independent Arabia on Jan. 25, 2019 off of his exclusive interview with Saudi Arabia’s Intelligence Chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan, an interview he called “the most important journalistic work I offered in the last 17 years.”
Al-Ahmari’s TV show, “Al Madar,” on Asharq Al-Awsat is known for hosting notable and controversial guests, including John Bolton, former US envoy to the UN; Masoud Khan, Kashmiri diplomat who served as the 27th president of Azad Kashmir, and Mohammad Naim, a spokesperson for the Taliban.
