DUBAI: Oman’s National Emergency Management System (NEMS) met Friday as the country braces itself for a potential Category 1 tropical cyclone.
According to authorities, tropical storm Shaheen which is currently 650 km away from Muscat is likely to turn into a Category 1 tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
In a statement, Oman’s state news agency said coordinators from the NEMS “are holding a meeting at the Civil Aviation Authority to review preparations and its readiness to deal with the situation.”
