- Meeting stressed importance of exchanging experiences between Egypt and South Korea in the healthcare field
CAIRO: Hala Zayed, Egypt’s minister of health and population, held talks with representatives of leading South Korean pharmaceutical companies about enhancing cooperation in the health sector.
Khaled Megahed, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said the meeting discussed providing medical equipment to hospitals in Egypt; transferring manufacturing technology for various vaccines, including COVID-19; and cooperation in the field of research and clinical trials.
Megahed added that Zayed affirmed Cairo’s keenness to cooperate with the Korean side and maximize investment opportunities, noting Egypt’s aspiration to become the main center for Korean medical companies to reach the African market.
Megahed said Zayed stressed the importance of exchanging experiences between Egypt and South Korea in the healthcare field, especially in light of the challenges faced globally due to the coronavirus pandemic, and noted the two countries’ strong bilateral relations.
The Korean representatives affirmed their keenness to cooperate with the ministry with regard to localizing the vaccines and biological preparations industry, pointing to the attractiveness of Egypt’s pharmaceutical market.
