RIYADH: A deal to promote joint research as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has been signed between King Saud University’s Chair for Climate Change, Environment and Vegetation Development and the Cooperative Society of Moringa and Desert Plants.
The agreement was signed on Sunday by Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, vice president of the university, and Prince Moteb bin Fahd bin Faisal, the cooperative’s chairman.
Dr. Asma Al-Haqil, supervisor of the chair, said that the deal complements the Saudi Green Initiative and aims to preserve the Kingdom’s natural environment through cooperation.
Scientific research and environmental awareness programs between the chair and cooperative will serve the objectives of vegetation development and combating desertification, Al-Haqil added.
Though economic and social development are at the forefront of the Kingdom’s agenda, authorities are also committed to new environmental policies, including the preservation of marine and desert habitats, and the “greenifying” of urban areas.
