DUBAI: OSN will launch its latest original series, “No Activity” (Elwada’a Mustaqer), on Sept. 5.
This OSN Original is the Arabic adaptation of “No Activity,” an Australian production — not to be confused with the American series of the same name starring Tim Meadows and Jason Mantzoukas, which is also based on the original Australian series.
Starring Egyptian comedy duo Shadi Alfons and Khalid Mansour, who are well known for Saturday Night Live Arabia, the OSN series is a comedy-drama that takes a satirical look at the misadventures of cops and criminals against the backdrop of a major drug cartel bust.
It also stars critically acclaimed actor Sayed Ragab and Egyptian model and television celebrity Enjy Kiwan and is directed by Wael Farag.
“This series is built on such a simple concept — there is literally no activity — and the entire episode relies on the sharp and witty dialogue between the partner pairs to carry the show,” said Darine El-Khatib, OSN’s senior vice president for Arabic services and original production.
It follows two private security guards on a stakeout as they wait in their car for orders while the cartel bust is underway. Meanwhile, two small-time drug dealers are waiting for a signal, totally oblivious to developments around them.
Built on multiple two-person conversations in different settings and situations, the simplicity and dialogue of the series make up six 30-minute episodes.
“We are introducing a new style of comedy into your home — a style never seen before in Arabic productions. This series will change the way we experience content humor, with its hilarious storyline and featuring much-loved Arab talent,” El-Khatib added.
“No Activity” will air daily on OSN’s Ya Hala Al Oula channel at 8.35 p.m. Saudi time from Sept. 5 and will also be available on the OSN Streaming app.
