UNAIZAH: Qassim region's second biggest city opened its date auction on Saturday with a tour of classic cars to demonstrate how dates were transported in the past from Unaizah to other regions of the Kingdom and abroad.

Organized by the Unaizah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the governorate's administration, the auction attracted shoppers and visitors from various places, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The chamber’s chairman of the board of directors and general supervisor of the season, Nizar bin Hamad Al-Harkan, praised all parties for making the event a success and meeting the aspirations of dealers, farmers, marketers, shoppers and traders.

He also highlighted the youth participation in the auction, which was an important economic event in Saudi Arabia and abroad, and the interest of young people in dates.

Date is Saudi Arabia’s biggest and most important agricultural product, providing job opportunities for young people in the sector.
