RIYADH: A deal has been signed to add event tickets to the Tawakkalna health app, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Tawakkalna was launched last year to help track COVID-19 infections. It has since been updated to include vaccination information and infection status, while also functioning as a COVID-19 “passport.”

Under the agreement, ticketing companies approved by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) will be linked to the Tawakkalna platform, so that tickets can be sold electronically and the user’s purchased tickets can appear on the app.

The deal was signed between the GEA and the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) in Riyadh by GEA CEO Faisal bin Saeed Bafarat and the CEO of the Tawakkalna platform Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Issa.

The agreement is aimed at facilitating people’s experience at events and promoting safety, with Tawakkalna supporting the Kingdom’s efforts in managing the pandemic.

The chairman of the board of directors of the GEA, Turki Al-Sheikh, highlighted the role of the agreement in creating a safe environment for eventgoers and significantly helping with the return of recreational activities in the Kingdom.

“The GEA seeks to use technology to improve all procedures that help organizers hold their events and obtain licenses or permits, in the best and easiest possible way, in cooperation with all relevant authorities,” he said.

SDAIA president Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi praised the agreement, which was a continuation of the authority’s efforts to achieve integration with the government and private agencies.

Tawakkalna has contributed to achieving the digital transformation goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reform program.

Its existing cooperation with government agencies has helped to deliver state initiatives and services on a single platform for the Kingdom’s citizens, residents and visitors.
