DUBAI: The 83-year-old emir of Kuwait said Monday he underwent “successful” medical tests, state-run media reported, the latest checkups for the country’s ruler.
Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah told the crown prince by phone that the usual medical checks had gone well and would be continued, state-run KUNA news agency reported, citing a royal court statement.
The emir conveyed his greetings to Kuwait’s rulers, sheikhs, members of the government and National Assembly, as well as citizens and residents.
The emir “reassured them of the course of the usual medical examinations that he had conducted, which culminated in success, and that he would continue to complete these examinations,” the statement said.
Sheikh Nawaf ascended the throne last fall following the death of his half-brother Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah.
Earlier this year, Sheikh Nawaf flew to the United States for unspecified medical examinations. The government praised his return and the successful tests, without giving details.
