RIYADH: The Arab coalition said Monday that the Saudi Arabian air defense has intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone launched by the terrorist Houthis militia towards Khamis Mushayt, Al Arabiya TV reported.
The coalition said it thwarted all hostile Houthi attempts aimed at targeting civilians and civilian objects. All operational measures to protect civilians from such attacks were being taken, it said.
The latest attack comes after a drone hit a school in the Asir region on Sunday, damaging the building but causing no casualties.
The targeting of Khamis Mushayt once again drew widespread condemnation from Gulf states, other countries and humanitarian organizations.
The UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan and Kuwait were among the nations expressing their anger at the latest attack.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and GCC secretary general also weighed in with strongly worded denunciations.
"The OIC condemns the Houthi militia's terrorist practices, which are considered as war crimes, and those who stand behind it and provide it with money and weapons," OIC secretary-general Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen said.
