JEDDAH: Operations of the Haramain Train were affected on Saturday following the death of a man on one of the railway tracks 4 km from the Makkah station.
The unidentified man was reportedly walking on the tracks when the train hit him. Authorities are investigating the incident.
The Saudi Spanish Project Co., which operates the train, said in a statement that the accident took place at 9:05 a.m.
It expressed sorrow over the loss of life and urged people to stay away from railway tracks.
The company also regretted the delay in the operations of some trains due to the accident. However, after necessary legal measures all operations were resumed normally.
The Haramain train is considered the biggest and latest transport project in the region.
