Chinese envoy in key Riyadh talks

RIYADH: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji on Thursday received China’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh.

They discussed bilateral relations and other issues of common interest. The meeting highlighted the importance that China attaches to the development of its comprehensive strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia.

The envoy expressed his wish for steady progress and prosperity for the Saudi government and people.

Earlier, he called on Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz, governor of Asir region. They discussed topics of mutual interest.

The Chinese ambassador commended the developmental progress in Asir that has made it a major tourist destination in the Kingdom.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid an official visit to Saudi Arabia in March, during which he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

They exchanged views on bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields and issues of common concern.
