Who’s Who: Dr. Saad Alrwaita, vice president at Prince Sultan University

Dr. Saad Alrwaita has been vice president for administrative and financial affairs at Prince Sultan University (PSU), since 2003.

Alrwaita, an expert in management and government accounting, is also professor of accounting at PSU, where he is a member of the university’s board of trustees, and at King Saud University (KSU).

He is a consultant for many governmental and private organizations and is a member of various scientific, academic and research institutions.

In addition, he is an external examiner at different accounting institutions and a reviewer for several research journals.

Alrwaita received a bachelor’s degree with honors from KSU’s college of business administration in 1982. Five years later, he was granted a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, US.

In 1993, he obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, with his doctorate thesis discussing ownership control and performance in an underdeveloped market environment.

The PSU’s vice president has wide work experience and has been a board member in a number of investment companies, such as the Saudi Industrial Investment Group (SIIG), where he was recently appointed to its board of directors.

From 2012 to 2018, he has been a board member of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) and chairman of the bank’s audit committee. Since 2019, he has been a member of the auditing committee at Alinma Bank.

For nearly a year, beginning in 2015, he was a board member of the Saudi Printing and Packaging Company and chairman of its audit committee.

From 2008 to 2015, he chaired the Rana Investment Fund, where he was also a member of its board of directors.

Alrwaita has been a board member of the audit committee at the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) since 2014. He has also been a member of the SIIG’s audit committee since 2018.

Moreover, he has been a member of the auditing committee at the Public Pension Agency since 2006 and served as a member of the audit committee at Ma’aden from 2008 to 2011.

He has also been chairman and member in several other financial inspection committees of entities such as the Ministry of Finance, where he was a member of its Zakat and Tax Appellate Committee from 2002 to 2018.

Between 2005 and 2008, he worked as the chairman of the committee of continuous education and training at the GCC Accounting and Auditing Organization (GCCAAO).

From 2003 to 2006, he was a board member of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA).
