RIYADH: The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, received Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday in Doha.
Prince Faisal handed Sheikh Tamim an invitation from King Salman to visit the Kingdom.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prince Faisal conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the emir, wishing him and the Qatari people further progress and prosperity, the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said.
Sheikh Tamim reciprocated the sentiments to the king, crown prince and the Saudi people.
During the talks, they reviewed bilateral relations and “ways to enhance them in all fields to serve their aspirations, in addition to discussing regional and international developments, and issues of common interest.”
Prince Faisal and his accompanying delegation arrived at Doha International Airport earlier on Monday on an official visit, where he was received by his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman and the charge d’affairs of the Kingdom’s embassy in Qatar, Ali bin Saad Al-Qahtani.
The two foreign ministers also held talks and discussed activating the mechanisms of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council and all that would enhance bilateral relations and develop joint work in various areas of coordination and cooperation between the two countries, the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said.
During the meeting, Prince Faisal said he appreciated the statement made by Sheikh Mohammed regarding his country’s full support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to combat drug trafficking in all its forms.
Sheikh Mohammed also reiterated Doha’s support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to enhance its security and stability.
