RIYADH: Saudi authorities seized more than 4.3 million amphetamine tablets hidden inside an apple consignment at Jeddah Islamic Port on Monday.
Capt. Mohammed bin Khaled Al-Najidi, spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, said that the plot to smuggle a large amount of amphetamine pills into the country had been uncovered during a follow-up security check on criminal networks.
A Saudi man was arrested in connection with the foiled plot and the case referred to the Public Prosecution, Al-Najidi said.
