RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made a phone call to Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq, Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
During the call, they discussed the environmental challenges facing the region, their economic, social and health implications, and the specific initiatives contained in the Green Middle East Initiative that address these challenges.
The crown prince announced the initiative, along with the Saudi Green Initiative, on Saturday, which include reducing carbon emissions by 60 percent in the region and increasing clean energy by using modern and innovative methods and technologies. The initiatives also include the largest afforestation project which will se 50 billion trees planted across the region.
The sultan welcomed the initiatives and said Oman was ready to support all efforts made by the Kingdom to achieve their goals.
The crown prince has made calls to several regional leaders, who welcomed the initiatives and said their countries were also ready to support them.
