Saudi Shoura Council approves draft system to combat begging

The Saudi Shoura Council, held with its Speaker Dr. Abdullah Al-Asheikh in the chair, on Tuesday approved a draft system to combat begging. The draft was approved following deliberations on a report submitted by the Shoura Council’s Social, Family and Youth Affairs Committee.
The draft contained 10 articles addressing methods to curb begging. It also proposed a mechanism to help in the rehabilitation of people engaged in the activity with the assistance of government and charitable organizations. It also called for penalties to ensure its elimination from society.
The Shoura Council also approved a draft multilateral memorandum of understanding aimed to increase consultation, cooperation and exchange of information among capital market regulators in the Arab countries.
