RIYADH: A special committee from the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) visited a project to improve male palm trees west of Shaqra.
The MEWA has a production target number of 350,000 male palm trees with a projected completion date set for later this year. The project aims to produce pollen grains while being encapsulated and sterilized so that they would be available for sale in the local and international market throughout the year.
It also aims to limit the spread of epidemics and agricultural diseases. The project will improve the production of dates while venturing into the food, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries.
