DUBAI: The 63rd annual Grammy Awards kicked off Sunday night in Los Angeles. It was mostly a virtual affair, with a number of pre-taped, star-studded performances from the likes of Dua Lipa and BTS being held across various venues. The Grammys red carpet was also a mix of in-person and virtual appearances and, as usual, the fashion did not disappoint. Some of the music industry’s finest even opted for looks from the Middle East.
American singer and songwriter Jhene Aiko, who hosted the 2021 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, hit the socially-distanced red carpet arm-in-arm with her partner, rapper Big Sean, wearing a two-piece ball gown by Bahrain-based label Monsoori.
The bubblegum-pink confection of tulle featured a strapless organza top and matching voluminous skirt with a long, flowy train that cascaded behind her as she walked.

The three-time Grammy nominee, who was one of the several performers lined up for the evening, paired the look with a pair of pink pearl earrings, a matching beaded necklace and a pink bracelet.
Regional designers also found a fan in R&B hitmaker Lizzo, who posed in a Georges Hobeika Couture creation on Instagram.
The asymmetric flower-embellished mini-dress featured laser cutouts and was plucked from the Lebanese designer’s Spring 2020 couture collection.

Elsewhere, Canadian television presenter Keltie Knight made a statement wearing a sequined tuxedo jumpsuit from Saudi womenswear label Honayda.
Hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah, the 2021 Grammy Awards were historic for a number of female artists who had record-making nights.
Swift became the first female performer to win album of the year three times. While Beyonce, with her 28th win, became the most awarded woman in Grammys history.
She picked up four honors, including best R&B performance for “Black Parade,” best music video for “Brown Skin Girl” as well as best rap performance and best rap song for “Savage,” with Megan Thee Stallion.
Megan Thee Stallion, who won three honors, also made history and became the first female rapper to win best rap song.
R&B singer H.E.R. won song of the year and Billie Eilish picked up her second consecutive record of the year honor.
