- Al-Hajraf emphasized the importance of allowing the GCC take part in any negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear issue to ensure regional security
RIYADH: The secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, called on Tuesday for Iran to abandon its support to various terrorist groups currently active in the region, Saudi state news agency SPA reported.
Nayef Al-Hajraf also said that Iran must stop interfering in the internal matters of other countries, during a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU countries to the Kingdom.
He also highlighted the important role the GCC played in promoting regional and international peace and security. He called on the international community to mobilize all efforts to help the Yemeni people.
Meanwhile, the United Nations envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, also met with Hajraf on Tuesday to discuss the crisis in war-torn country.
During the meeting, Hajraf highlighted the firm position of the GCC in supporting Yemen and enhancing its security and stability by helping the internationally recognized government operation from Aden.
He reviewed the efforts of the UN envoy for a political solution to the Yemen issue.
