DUBAI: Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister has emphasized the importance of a united effort to support regional security and stability, Al Arabiya TV reported.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan made the comments at a media briefing in Athens following a meeting of the foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain.
He stressed the importance of states’ territorial integrity in accordance with international law, saying that Saudi Arabia viewed the world from the angle of peace and prosperity.
The Kingdom supported the efforts of development and confronting the coronavirus pandemic, and condemned all interference in the affairs of other countries, he added.
The Athens meeting was held to discuss freedom of navigation and the principles of sovereignty.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Hassan Shoukry said his country had always called for peaceful solutions to all existing conflicts.
He said Egypt aimed to strengthen the relationship with Cyprus and Greece in order to achieve stability for people, and there were political and economic challenges that required cooperation with everyone because every region had problems.
Egypt sought balanced relations based on cooperation, achieving stability and distance from military interventions, Shoukry added.
It also sought more comprehensive cooperation to achieve stability in the Mediterranean and the region.
