DUBAI: Kuwait’s authorities have ramped up coronavirus restrictions to further curb the spread of the disease, state news agency KUNA reported.
The Gulf country’s cabinet decided to suspend entry into the country of non-nationals for two weeks starting on February 7. Foreigners who are direct relatives of Kuwaitis and their travel companions and helpers will be exempt from the rule.
The authorities also decided to fully close health clubs, resorts, beauty salons and hairdressers for a month.
Restaurants meanwhile will have to close from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. but are permitted to serve deliveries, while halls and tents will be fully closed for celebrations and gatherings.
Passengers who arrive into Kuwait must also self-quarantine for two weeks at their own expense.
The country has reported 756 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday and 557 recoveries, increasing the number of infected people since the start of the pandemic to 167,410 and the number of recovered patients to 159,543.
