New artworks have arrived at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, including loans from Paris’s Musée d’Orsay and the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

  • ‘Haystacks, End of Summer’

Between 1890 and 1891, French artist Claude Monet embarked on a series of approximately 25 paintings with haystacks as his sole subject. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is showing off three magnificent artworks by the painter.

  • Feline-shaped Incense Burner

Hailing from Eastern Iran or Central Asia circa 1000-1100 BC, the figure had many meanings across cultures that are only now beginning to be interpreted.

  • ‘Old Man in front of Children's Tombs’

Turkish artist Osman Hamdi Bey’s artwork is displayed alongside his renowned painting ‘Young Emir Studying’ in the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

  • Female Figure Praying

This newly-acquired piece, which dates back to Iraq in 2800- 2550 BCE, is particularly rare, as statues of worshippers from this time were nearly always male.

  • ‘Caravans, Gypsy Camp near Arles’

Vincent Van Gogh was drawn to the light and the harsh landscape during his travels through the Camargue in the south of France, which resulted in the 1888 artwork that is now on show in the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

  • ‘The Bellelli Family’

Also known as “Family Portrait,” the oil painting by Edgar Degas is a portrait of his aunt, her husband and their two young daughters.
