Saudi minister, French envoy discuss digital economy

RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha on Thursday met with the French Ambassador to the Kingdom Ludovic Pouille to discuss ways of furthering bilateral efforts to boost the digital economy.

Sharing experiences in the fields of digital technology and entertainment were also on the agenda during talks in Riyadh.

Al-Swaha highlighted Saudi Arabia’s digital support for megaprojects, associated legal frameworks, and moves to speed up the country’s digital transformation.

He said that the Kingdom was developing its telecommunications and information technology (IT) capabilities by increasing Saudi national cadres and the roles played by women in the sector.

The minister and envoy also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s efforts to encourage innovation and investment in the technology sector as well as investment opportunities for French tech companies in Saudi telecoms and IT.
