RIYADH: Saudi Arabia provides the best technology-driven hazard alert system in the Arab world, according to the road warning hazards index.
According to the report, measured as part of the GCC developmental index, the Saudi Transport Ministry has covered more than 58 km of the country with road warning hazards technology. This produces warning sounds when a driver loses concentration due to tiredness, using a mobile phone or suffering poor vision because of bad weather or road conditions.
The measure contributed to drastically reducing fatal car accidents from 28.8 deaths for every 100,000 to 16.8 deaths for every 100,000, the report said.
