DUBAI: The UAE on Sunday recorded 2,876 new coronavirus cases and six virus-related deaths.
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total number of cases since the pandemic began had reached 230,578, while the death toll rose to 708.
It also said that 2,454 people had recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. The total number of recoveries is 206,114.
Dubai Health Authority said Sunday its free inoculation drive was continuing and that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was being provided at seven centers across the emirate.

More than one million vaccinations have been administered in the UAE, the health ministry said on Saturday. Some 10.3 doses have been given per 100 people, making it the second most vaccinated country in the world behind Israel.
Health officials said the country plans to immunize 50 percent of the population within the first three months of 2021, with priority given to those aged 60-years and above and those with chronic illnesses.
In Abu Dhabi, 500 volunteers have started taking part in trials of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine.
The first volunteers have begun participating in the UAE trials of the Russian human adenovirus-based vaccine. Supervised by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, trials are initially open to 500 volunteers.

Meanwhile, Ruler of Umm Al-Quwain, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al-Mualla, received the first dose of the a vaccine, state news agency WAM reported.
Elsewhere, Kuwait reported 414 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number to 154,314. The death toll rose to 943 after one coronavirus-related death was reported in the previous 24 hours.

Oman’s Health Ministry said that its total number of cases had reached 130,608 and the death toll was 1,508.

In Bahrain, one death was reported, raising the death toll to 356, while 241 new infected cases were confirmed.
