Saudi Arabia celebrates Arab Literacy Day

RIYADH: To mark Arab Literacy Day on Jan. 8, the Ministry of Education launched 1,142 online training programs, benefiting more than 29,000 people in its “Al-Hayy Al-Moutaalim” (Educated Neighborhood) centers.
Maha Al-Sulaiman, undersecretary for educational programs at the Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of Arab Literacy Day as a means of raising awareness of the widespread campaign to eradicate illiteracy in the Arab world and as a way of focusing on national advancement through education. She also noted that the use of modern technology to achieve sustainable development is in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
