Arabic language day events launched globally

Events celebrating World Arabic Language Day are being launched despite continued restrictions surrounding the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Titled “Arabic Language Academies: Necessity or Luxury?” the occasion has been organized by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in cooperation with the Saudi permanent delegation to the UN and the Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud Foundation, along with the support of the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz program to promote the Arabic language at UNESCO, funded by the organization.
The foundation commended UNESCO for pressing ahead with the special day’s events in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak and pledged its commitment to helping support and promote the Arabic language on the international stage.
It said Arabic was one of the world’s most important languages which contributed to deepening human connection and the cultural and linguistic structure of nations while enhancing convergence between people.
Foundation officials noted that a number of projects had been launched aimed at promoting the Arabic language and Arab heritage through a number of cooperation agreements with universities and international organizations, most notably UNESCO.
The initiatives were designed to support global organizations in introducing more programs and activities related to the Arabic language, including the translation of research papers, reports, records, and minutes of meetings. SPA Paris
