- Saudi Arabia’s recovery rate remains steady at 97.3 percent
JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry has confirmed the safety and efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine due to arrive in the Kingdom within days after social media posts warned of severe side effects from the injection.
The ministry said the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine had undergone a “vigorous and lengthy process” to ensure its safety for public use.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority also rejected suggestions that the vaccine affects women’s fertility, saying there have been no studies to support that claim.
According to the authority, the most common reactions are soreness at the injection site, fatigue, headache, and arm pain.
The Kingdom has recorded new cases of the coronavirus in double digits in only four out of 13 regions, according to the ministry’s daily count.
Strict precautionary measures implemented shortly after the outbreak have yielded record low numbers, with 166 cases recorded on Saturday, increasing the total in the Kingdom to 359,749.
