RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s civil defense and its meteorology authority issued weather warnings on Friday to various areas in the Kingdom.
The civil defense warned of continued thunderstorms in Hafar Al-Batin and the governorates of Adham, Taif, Mawiya and Maysan in Makkah, with increased winds and a low visibility.
Some areas should expect heavy rain that may lead to torrential flows, it said.
The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection issued an alert for Al-Hanakiya and Al-Mahd governorates that included rain, thunderstorms and low visibility until 9 p.m.
The meteorology authority also issued issued a similar warning for several governorates in Al-Baha region.
Light to moderate rain is expected in southern and eastern areas of Rafha governorate in the Northern Borders province.
On Friday morning, the Qassim region experienced moderate to heavy rain, but this has since subsided.
The civil defense called on everyone to take precautions, avoid areas where torrents occurred and to listen out for civil defense announcements.
