Mohammad Melfi Al-Hammadi is the spokesman for the Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia and an international public relations expert accredited by the International Civil Defense Organization. He also holds the position of corporate communications officer of the Civil Defense forces for the Hajj season. He is also the chairman of the Riyadh Region Civil Defense Awareness Committee. Al-Hammadi gives lectures on media and public relations, as well as media crisis management, at the Civil Defense Institute.
He has taken part in several international events on public relations and public opinion, and presented a working paper in Tunisia and the UAE on the same topic. Al-Hammadi supervised the training of public relations and media students in a number of universities in Riyadh.
He considers media an essential tool in crisis management, facilitating the provision of quick and accurate information to keep a situation in check.
“There are many examples of crises that have been contained because the spokespeople provided accurate information and helped everyone involved to build trust and pull through,” he stressed. Al-Hammadi obtained a bachelor’s degree in public relations at King Saud University in Riyadh and a master’s degree in media from the same university. He completed a higher diploma in security media from Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Riyadh.
