DUBAI: The UAE on Sunday recorded 1,041 new COVID-19 cases, the fifth day straight that the number of cases has topped the 1,000 mark.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention said the total number of infected cases since the pandemic began has reached 98,801, while the total death toll stands at 426 after no new deaths were reported since Saturday.
Some 1,001 cases recovered from coronavirus over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 88,123 cases.
During its daily inspections, Dubai Economy said it issued fines to eight businesses and gave warnings to 13 shops for not adhering to anti-COVID-19 measures.

Dubai Sports Council issued five fines against fitness centers and clubs over the weekend, and issued warnings to six others.
On Saturday, Dubai Police said they fined a pilot 10,000 dirhams ($2,722) for organizing a private yacht party attended by 25 guests.

Elsewhere, Kuwait recorded 567 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 107,025, while the death toll stood at 624 after four new deaths were registered.

Oman’s health ministry said the the total number of cases recorded in the sultanate has reached 101,270, with 977 deaths since the pandemic emerged.

In Bahrain, two deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 260, with 352 new confirmed cases.
