LONDON: A virtual awards ceremony celebrating Saudi graduates from UK universities was held on Wednesday evening with the British and Saudi ambassadors in attendance.

The Study UK Alumni Awards event was held to celebrate the success of Saudi students and their contribution to their professions and their community in the Kingdom.

The Saudi ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan, spoke during the virtual ceremony, which was streamed on the Facebook pages of the British Embassy in Riyadh and the British Council.

He was joined by Neil Crompton, the British ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The ceremony’s awards were split into three categories — the Professional Achievement award won by Dr. Samar Khan of Nottingham Trent University, the Entrepreneurial award won by Abdulaziz Alsaeed of Newcastle University and the Social Impact award, which was given to Dr. Mawya Khafaji from the University of Exeter.
