On what it has been like working the frontlines during COVID-19:
As part of my role as a resident at the hospital, I was responsible for receiving patients at the Emergency Department (I now work in the ICU), admitting them, initiating their treatment plan, assessing their health on a daily basis. One of the highlights of my time was when an old man in the ICU looked at me, and raised his hands praying for me, saying thank you. It is moments like these that spread encouragement and increase morale because small acts of kindness and appreciation are – ironically –contagious.
