UAE keen to invest in Pakistani development projects — shipping minister

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates has expressed interest in investing in development projects in Pakistan, the Pakistani minister for shipping Syed Ali Haider Zaidi said after meeting officials from a top UAE company this week. 
Mohammed Al-Muallem, the managing director of DP World, met Zaidi in Islamabad on Monday.
In a tweet the same day, the minister said he and Al-Muallem had discussed prospects of Dubai investing in Pakistan.

“Delegation told us that Dubai’s leadership is keen to invest in Pakistan’s development projects,” the minister said without giving details. 
According to state-run Radio Pakistan, the meeting was also attended by the chairman of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) authority, Lieutenant General (Retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa.
DP World is an Emirati multinational logistics company based in Dubai. It specialises in cargo logistics, port terminal operations, maritime services and free trade zones.
“DP World has a portfolio of 80 operating marine and inland terminals, supported by over 50 related businesses in over 50 countries across six continents, with a significant presence in both mature and emerging markets,” the company said on its website.
