Saudi Arabia announces rise of 38 in new COVID-19 deaths

JEDDAH: The number of new deaths in Saudi Arabia from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday rose by 38.

The upturn took the overall death toll in the Kingdom to 3,093, and 1,567 new cases were reported, meaning 285,793 people in the country had now contracted the disease.

Ministry of Health officials said there were currently 33,752 active cases, with 1,892 patients in a critical condition. Of the newly recorded cases, 89 were in Riyadh, 79 in Makkah, and 58 in Jeddah.

The ministry also announced that 1,859 more patients had recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 248,948.

In addition, 58,299 polymerase chain reaction tests had been conducted in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of checks carried out in the country to 3.69 million.
