MADINAH: Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman has accepted the honorary presidency of Madinah’s Down Syndrome Association, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The chairman of the association, Abdulmohsen bin Naif bin Hamid, along with the board’s members, thanked Prince Faisal for his decision.

The nonprofit association is pioneering the rehabilitation and education of children with Down syndrome in the Madinah region, providing programs for families and specialists.

The association, the first of its kind in the region, provides rehabilitation programs along with psychological, educational, speech, physical and occupational therapy services.

It works to promote early-intervention programs for young age groups, offering medical and social advice to children’s families as well as organizing consulting and rehabilitation evening clinics.

The association offers educational programs and helps integrate older age groups by guiding them toward a range of professions.
